Our Mental Selves

Greetings!

I have really had trouble reining my self in for each post that I’ve written in this series so far & “Our Mental Selves” is no exception.  I may have to cycle through the “Our Selves” series multiple times in order to get to say everything I’d like.  I was a little worried before starting that I wouldn’t have much to say with this one & the last one “Our Energetic Selves” but by the time I sat down, my mind was overflowing with thoughts & ideas.  I guess my mental self has been called upon.  For the purposes of this post today, our mental self includes our intelligence, intellect, thoughts, thought-forms, beliefs, ideas, words, mind, brain & thinking processes including abstract & concrete.

Our mental selves are a little like our physical selves in that they both receive more of our attention & acceptance compared to the other aspects of our selves, being of a more tangible nature than say, the energetic self.  So, for example, even though you can’t exactly put a finger on your thoughts, they appear to originate from the physical construct of the brain which gives them an aura of concrete reality & realness.  You could locate the mental self in the brain, for it’s apparent from our physical biology that much of our “mentality” is located in the brain but I don’t recommend this.  It’s probably more accurate to perceive your mental self as a body permeating your physical body.  Viewed in this way, you can see that your mental self, intelligence & mind are not limited to just your brain.  Every part of your body is intelligent.

The mental self can cause or contribute to problems in our lives & bodies just as any of our other aspects can & since “energy follows thought,” the potential is great for our mental self to cause a great deal of problems for us through our thinking & our thoughts.  Since we usually assume that our thoughts originate with us, we then proceed to buy into everything we think without discernment, believing all that we think.  You’ve heard the saying “don’t believe everything you hear”?  To this, I would add “or think” because your thoughts are not always just your own.  Some thoughts that arise unbidden in your mind are from God but some are from unhealed, wounded parts of your self, some from others in spirit whether of a pure nature or a wounded nature.  In the same way that you would weigh & measure the words of others, I would suggest that you weigh & measure your own thoughts.  Are they true?  clarifying?  accurate?  compassionate?  peaceful?  loving?  reasonable?  logical?  Do they lead you to make improvements in your life, body & relationships?  Or do they tear you or others down?  criticize?  attack?  judge?  condemn?  Do they stir up hate?  unforgiveness?  revenge?  anger?  Do they dwell on temporary negative conditions?  things out of your control?  what others are doing?  or have done?  The quality of your thoughts can indicate the source of them.  Needless to say, the loving thoughts of God feel very different from the wounded thoughts of others or of other parts of your self.  Don’t believe that you hear any thoughts but your own?  This is possibly true if you continuously occupy your mind with ongoing active thinking, although, I have heard Spirit talk to me right over the top of my own thinking so I know that active thinking is no actual impediment.  The best example I can think of, demonstrating that we can hear Spirit as our own thoughts, was one time that I was out of my body (OOBE) but heading back.  Usually, coming back into my body is instantaneous but this was one of those times that it wasn’t.  I was moving through a space similar to a hallway & up ahead of me & off to the left, I could hear a woman talking as if she were in a room off this hallway.  She continued talking as I moved past her & I continued to hear her voice as I moved away.  Gradually, as I merged with my body, her voice changed from it’s own distinct sound to the sound of my own thinking & continued on, sounding & feeling exactly like my own thoughts.  This experience, among others, confirmed for me that we have the ability to “hear” those in Spirit in our minds as our thoughts.

The difficulty with “hearing” Spirit in this way is learning to discern which thoughts are your own &  which are not.  To this end, I would suggest a few things.

  • Forgiveness Work or Emotional Work mentioned in a previous post “Our Emotional Selves” is also very effective with clearing & healing the mental self.  For myself, I found that as I did my “work,” I enjoyed greater & greater periods of time without any chatter in my mind.  A quiet mind can be key for many, as it was for me, to enable the voice of Spirit to be discerned.  Once you develop the ability to be quiet in your mind, the voice of Spirit is quite obvious.
  • Meditation works for some people by training the mind to be quiet & cease the chatter.  This training can then be used to listen to Spirit.  This technique has the benefit that it is available to anyone, there are many self-help books on the subject & it doesn’t require having access to a therapist.  It does require daily commitment though & it lacks the depth of healing & overall healing benefit offered by forgiveness work.
  • Practicing the Presence:  Choosing to practice the presence of God involves your willingness to be open to God, stated with intent & then sitting quietly, letting go of everything else.  It looks like meditation but is not because you are not focusing your attention on anything in the physical, you are not trying to stop thinking, you are not required to hold any particular position, chant any word or phrases or accomplish any goal other than being with God.  The Presence of God has the power to overcome all of your resistance, woundedness, fear & negative mental constructs, thoughts, beliefs, disordered & faulty thinking & rigid mind.  One of my mentors has developed a wonderful version of this technique that I am going to try to share here.  This can be done anytime but bedtime is especially good.  Say out loud or in your mind, “I choose to fill myself with the Divine Presence of God.”  This is the basic statement or intent to which more can be added such as “I choose to fill my bones, muscles, connective tissue”, etc.  Alternately you could start with your feet & move up adding your legs, etc.  You could go through the list of body systems such as pulmonary system, skeletal system or body organs & glands such as heart, etc.  You can expand this idea by choosing to fill your relationships, your different aspects such as your subconscious, emotions, emotional self, field, soul, spirit, mind, will, etc.  I always take a deep breath after each stated intent because I want to let go of all resistance to God & to receiving what I am asking.  Once you feel that you are done, then just lie there enjoying the feeling of being filled with God.  Sweet Dreams!

Our Energetic Selves

Greetings!

Some of us are canaries in the mine shaft.  You know who you are.  You get sick at the first sign of emotional distress or stress of any kind.  You can’t stand some kinds of music, or people, or places.  You can’t trust yourself to keep appointments or plans because you never know what the day will bring until it’s here.  You listen to others & wonder what they’re talking about because you can’t seem to pay attention to the verbal input along with all the other input happening.  You feel overwhelmed by crowds & large public places.  The energy of everything & everyone around you is impacting you & making it nearly impossible to function.  This is the life of someone who is sensitive to energy.  You may not recognize energy consciously but at other levels, you are very aware of it.  Sometimes it can be so overwhelming that it submerges physical senses.  Sometimes it feels so physical that you can’t be sure whether it’s physical & real or not.  You may question your sanity.  Others may question your sanity.  This would be your energetic self.  For some of us, the energetic self is awakened & aware & this is the cause of the canary experience.  Believe it or not, it’s a gift.  The curse would be not knowing what it is, what to do with it or how to handle it.  Once you get a handle on it, the gift begins.

Gifts can start out seeming to be a curse.  This one is no exception.  It calls you to pay attention to your surroundings.  It necessitates making adjustments in how you live your life compared to how others are living their lives.  It requires that you listen.  It requires that you heed, especially if you want to be able to function.  The gift begins, once you begin to appreciate, value & utilize the information that it makes available to you.  Many gifts are obvious both in presentation & in utilization but this one takes some getting used to.  To begin with, our culture doesn’t recognize energy per se so you’re pretty much left to your own devices to figure out what’s going on.  Then to top it off, much of this gifts’ manifestations look like illness or some medical problem which can send you running from doctor to doctor trying to pin down & fix “what’s wrong.”  Even if you manage to identify something & apply “fixes” to it, you never seem to realize the degree of relief that others with the same diagnosis seem to enjoy.  Finally, if you do manage to manage the manifestations (!), you are left with what to do with it.  After all, gifts are given & realized for a reason.

The gift of being aware of energy, enables you to consciously work with energy.  Energy is all around & within everything & everyone.  It can be moved, cleared & manipulated in many ways, allowing balance to be restored in bodies, homes, land, buildings, businesses & the list could go on.  The more obvious ways of working with energy are in the healing modalities such as laying-on-of-hands, Reiki, Magnified Healing, Therapeutic Touch, Acupuncture & also Feng Shui, which is concerned with healing the energy in homes & buildings.  Designers, decorators, architects, builders & landscapers all work with energy whether they are aware of it or not.  Most people work with energy unknowingly.  Any time you clean your house, organize a closet, plant flowers you are affecting energy in a positive way.  The following are ways to positively affect your energy:

  • Yoga is particularly excellent for your energy & energetic self.  As with all exercise, yoga helps you process your energy so that your energy flows evenly but additionally, it also helps release blocks which reduces stress & supports your health & the healing process.
  • Accupuncture & Accupressure both work directly on your energy pathways (called meridians) & balance the flow & release blocks in that flow.
  • Energywork:  Try a Reiki or Magnified Healing session with a reputable practitioner or take a class & learn how to work with energy yourself!
  • Clean, Declutter & Organize:  This is one of the simplest ways to positively affect your energy as well as that of  your family & others entering your home, your office, your car & any other space.  A story will illustrate.  I was raised by my grandparents & when I was younger, my grandmother managed to control the house & the chaos she created by being a hoarder.  But as I got older, she began running out of space & as the possessions took over the house, it became more & more difficult to clean the house or keep it organized.  When I was around 12 years old, I began waking up in the middle of the night with what would now be called panic attacks.  At first, I thought I was waking up to get sick but as it began to happen several nights a week, I soon realized that I wasn’t getting sick.  I would lay in bed breathing deeply until the panic attack would pass & I could go back to sleep.  This continued weekly for 7 more years until I moved out.  The panic attacks stopped the day I moved out & never returned.  This is an example of how the energy of your home can affect you, if you’re sensitive to energy.  Even if you think that your clutter & dirt are not causing you problems, I guarantee you that they are.
  • Decorate:  Decorating your home is a fun way to create good energy in your home.
  • Prayer:  I’ve already devoted a post to prayer but I want to add here that prayer affects your energetic self & your energy because “energy follows thought.”  As an example, most of my clients come to me with what feels like static in the field around their bodies, especially from the hips down. This static is less-than-best-energy that they have picked up from other people, places & things. In the past, I would sweep their field from the top of their heads to below their feet many, many times before the static would be cleared.  Now, I have them say one statement to clear their field: “Everything I have, everything I’m holding, everything I’m feeling that’s not my own stuff, I bundle it up, surround it with love & give it to God to heal.” Then breathe in & out, letting it go & it’s gone.  In a similar way, you can clear places & spaces by asking for it.  I have for many years now, prayed places clear that I visit.  By doing so, I bless my self  & others with clearer energy in our environment.  So the next time you are out & about, say:  “I ask for the complete cleaning, clearing, healing, restoration, protection & forgiveness of this (name of the space/place) & all persons, places & things in, on, near, around & connected to it according to God’s highest divine will & timing for each individual & for the whole” & end it however you prefer to end prayers & breathe.
  • For a better understanding of yourself if this post describes you, read the book by Elaine N Aron, Ph.D. “The Highly Sensitive Person”

There is so much more I could say about energy but it will have to wait for another post.  In the meantime, exercise, clean, organize & pray yourself & your environment clear for a Happy New Year!

Our Emotional Selves

Greetings!

We don’t usually think about our emotions, until they are in our faces but they are a part of us all the time.  We also don’t think of our selves as having an emotional self but it’s helpful to think of our selves in this way rather than diminishing our selves by saying that we just have emotions or feel emotions or are over taken by our emotions.  To view emotions as being outside of us or separate from us, diminishes our wholeness & gives us permission to ignore them, overlook them, minimize them or even hide them from our selves & others.  To heal, we need to honor every part of our selves, even those parts that we are not used to thinking about or recognizing as valid & as real as our bodies.  Our physical selves get the lion’s share of our attention, much to our detriment, because we are infinitely more than just a physical body.

Our emotions & emotional selves can be thought of as an early warning device that warns us of things that we normally wouldn’t perceive until it’s too late, much like smoke & carbon monoxide detectors.  Another way to think of them, is as a barometer that monitors our environment, only in this case it’s usually our inner environment.  Our emotional selves can almost be likened to instincts, arising many times without our thinking about anything or being aware of anything.  A story that illustrates might be helpful.

When I was about 21, I had just moved into a place of my own.  I was driving down the road towards my dad’s & grandfather’s office.  I don’t now remember if I was going there or if I just happened to be heading in that direction.  Anyway, I felt fine driving along listening to the radio.  Quite suddenly & without any thought or forewarning, I burst into tears.  I was crying so hard I could hardly breathe or see the road.  I realized right away what I was crying about.  I pulled the car over & ran sobbing into my dad’s office, probably scaring him half to death wondering who had died!  What had triggered this?  It was a verse, “don’t leave me again” from the song playing on the radio.  A few days before, my step mom had broken the news to me that she & my dad were separating but I hadn’t had a chance to talk to my dad about it, yet.  My dad & my own mom had divorced when I was a 5 year old.   My dad moved out & my mom remarried & took me out of state to live.  Unknown to me until that moment, I was terrified I was going to lose him again when he divorced my step-mom.  What is interesting is that up until hearing this verse, I had no awareness of my fear.  I remember feeling sad for them & for my siblings when my step-mom told me but that was all.  I have heard others relate similar stories of emotions coming seemingly out of nowhere, many times with comments about how silly they were to feel that way or how embarrassed they felt.

We tend to assume that what happens in the past, stays in the past & should have no effect on us later but our emotional selves would beg to differ!  As long as a trauma remains unhealed, it remains in us, forever affecting how we feel about our selves, others, life whether we are aware of them or not.  Fortunately for me, I could remember the trauma & could cry about it & talk about it with my dad & process it in a way that was healing for us both.  For many traumas & for many of us, this isn’t available.  Maybe we don’t even remember the trauma or the others involved are no longer in our lives or are not open to helping us resolve our traumas.  This is what drives many of us to the psychiatrist’s couch!  Counseling is definitely helpful in many cases but sometimes, something more is required.  That something more is what I call emotional work or forgiveness work.  It exists in many different formulas & forms:  Neuro Emotional Technique (NET), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Emotional Polarity Therapy (EPT), Emotional Attunement & many others.  For the past 12 years, I have used Emotional Attunement which is a local, home-grown-in-Indiana technique although I have experienced NET, EPT & two other un-named techniques used by a Chiropractor in Maryland & a therapist in Hawaii.  Forgiveness work is excellent at relieving emotional distress from any cause, past or present as well as resolving traumas, phobias, fears, blocks & about anything else I have thrown at it.

Another healing modality for the emotional self is exercise, believe it or not.  Exercise helps us process our energy & our emotions relieving depression, anxiety, hyperactivity, poor self-image & sluggishness just to name a few benefits.  It also helps bring us more fully present in our bodies & into the present moment which can help us better handle what comes our way.

Music can have a profound impact on your mood & could be considered a form of vibrational therapy.  In 2005, I got seriously ill.  For the next several years, as I recovered, I listened to Frank Sinatra CD’s every day, all day.  I have acquired quite a collection.  After I’d gotten sick, I found one given to my daughter that she’d thrown into the donate box.  I’d never listened to him before, so I was curious.  I popped it into the CD player & I was hooked.  Why Frank Sinatra?  Well, for one thing, I have no emotional associations with his music since I’d not listened to him growing up & for another, his singing feels happy to me.  If you’ve ever been sick for a long time, you know how depressing that can be.  Frank’s singing got me through it, day by day.  For you, it might be polka, jazz, classical or classic rock but whatever you choose, make sure it makes you feel good, happy, joyful, light-hearted.

Dancing is great for the emotional self also, as it combines two of these therapies-music & exercise.  As with the music, choose a dance form that you enjoy or would like to learn & have fun!

There’s my recommendations for healing your emotional self.  What are your ideas?  What has worked for you?

Our Selves

Greetings!

My main purpose for this blog, is to address spiritual experiences but as a self-professed health nut, I can’t ignore all the rest.  To ignore all the rest, is to se  e only a small fraction of ourselves.  We are so incredibly multifaceted, complex & wonderfully made, that to ignore any part of us is a grave mistake having serious consequences.  In order to be truly whole, healthy & happy, we need to become aware of & address the issues of every part of our selves including our spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, energetic & subconscious selves, leaving nothing out.  It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all that we are & all that we can perceive & this is probably what drives us to find a magic bullet cure, a quick fix, a simple answer.  I have been as guilty of this as anyone but I have discovered along the way that, usually, there is no one simple answer to the questions of life or to the problems in our lives.  So, if I only write about spiritual experiences in this blog, I will be doing Spirit, myself & you a disservice. For this reason, this website & my posts will encompass the full spectrum of our selves & our lives as spiritual beings having a physical experience.   After all, there’s more to us than meets the eye.

This is the first in a series of posts dealing with the different aspects of our selves & how best to heal them.  That I know of so far, I will be covering our emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, energetic & subconscious selves.  I am not suggesting that this is all that we are or even that we literally have an emotional self, a mental self, etc.  We are in reality, much more complicated than this but I am dividing our selves up into manageable, descriptive bits so that we can talk about them.

In many ways, we are like a house divided against itself.  How much can we accomplish in a day, a month, a year, a lifetime,  if much of our energy is spent struggling against our selves?  This is what happens when every part of our self is not in agreement.  Conflicting needs & agendas are created by unhealed traumas, wounds & issues, past experiences, misunderstandings, damaging beliefs, unclear perceptions, false ideas, negative thoughts, emotional baggage & many other things.  As a result, we are unable to perceive ourselves clearly let alone know what we truly need or want according to the desires of our hearts planted there by God.  Then there are all the external influences throughout our life that affect us such as our family, friends, teachers, caregivers & co-workers, our home, environment & culture, our relationships & connections to others, books we’ve read, movies we’ve watched & so on & so forth.  These pull us every which way & can make it difficult to move forward in our life.  Additionally, there is the chaos & confusion generated when we take on things that are not ours to take on, things that are not who God created us to be.  All of this, successfully separates us from our true selves, our wholeness, our true hearts desires & God’s purpose for us.  From this perspective, it can be clearly seen, that true healing requires that we address all aspects of our selves.

What can be done to heal & become whole?  The best & first answer to this question is, “Ask to be healed.”  This should always be the first step before doing anything – remember Matthew 7:7-8 (on my “Wisdom” page)? By asking, we bring the power of our words & our will to bear on our lives, we give permission to God & Spirit to help us, we admit to ourselves that we can’t do it all & that we need help, we open our selves to accept that help & we become willing to be healed.  Asking removes obstacles to our healing.  Asking removes obstacles of every kind & believe me, we are full of obstacles.

Unsure of how to ask for help?  There is no one special formula for everyone.  It’s best to experiment, trying many methods, until you hit upon what works for you.  What I have found is that the below methods can all work.  It’s a good idea to hold the intent for the less traditional forms of asking/prayer that you are talking to Spirit.

  • Traditional Prayer:  This is probably the form of asking or prayer that is most familiar.  This can be a formal memorized prayer or an informal made-up-as-you-go prayer directed to God & said kneeling with hands clasped before you.
  • Beg & Plead Prayers:  This is one of my favorite forms because it has a good track record of working for me.  I know it isn’t necessarily Spirit’s favorite.  I know this because, more than once, I have been told that “Begging & pleading isn’t necessary” & Spirit one time actually said to me while I was in the midst of this prayer, “Enough with the begging & pleading!” So, it would appear, that it isn’t necessary from Spirit’s viewpoint to beg & plead but I think it can be necessary for us.  We are one of the biggest obstacles to receiving what we need & ask.  I think that by passionately praying in this way, we convince ourselves of our need, our sincerity & our worthiness to receive.  I think this kind of prayer also helps us overcome ego, arrogance, stubbornness & willfulness-major obstacles to moving forward on our path & into wholeness.  If you have children (or have seen children in a store!) then you already know how to pull off this prayer.  Just think of the last time your kids or maybe you as a kid, begged & pleaded for some special favor.
  • Meditation/Contemplation:  I consider this to be a form of prayer because it encourages communion with Spirit.  Where there is communion with God, there is communication – the very definition of prayer.  It can be helpful to set an intent for the meditation or to say a prayer before meditating if you have a specific need.  This form of prayer also teaches a very special skill that will serve you well if you desire to hear Spirit, that of learning to be still so that you can hear “the still small voice.”
  • Journal:  Keeping a diary or journal is a less traditional method but can easily be adapted to our purpose of asking by simply directing it to God & Spirit.  This method is especially helpful for getting the noise out of your head which can lead to feeling more peaceful & centered.  Many times, once everything is on paper, you know exactly what you need to do.  Writing can bring clarity to your mind & heart & offers another way to learn to hear Spirit.
  • Talk out loud or in your mind to Spirit/God:  I consider that much of my day is spent in prayer because I am often talking in my mind to God or Spirit as I go about my daily life.  Sometimes, I am specific about who I am talking to but often it is just to whoever is with me.  I think you will find that the more you talk to Spirit in this way, the more you will become aware of Spirit responding.
  • Talk to your favorite spiritual advisor in the physical or in spirit:  Directing your communication to someone you feel that you know, can make it easier to talk & get things off your chest.  This can be a minister or spiritual advisor that you know in the physical or it can be someone in spirit such as Jesus, Buddha, etc.  Simply hold the intent that through talking to this person, you are talking to God.
  • Talk to anyone in the physical who will listen to you:  This person can be anyone who loves you & whom you love.  To keep this from degenerating into gossip & to keep your words from creating what you don’t want, it is very important that you verbally set the intent with this person that you are venting, not gossiping & that you only need them to listen, not solve anything.  You must also intend that this verbal communication is to be directed to God/Spirit.
  • Write a letter:  This is similar to journaling but differs in that it is usually specific to a certain need or purpose.  It could be compared to writing a prayer down on paper & has the benefit that you can look back on it & see that your prayers are being answered.  This would also be a benefit found with journaling.  I have had the experience of praying & then forgetting about it.  When the answer comes, I almost don’t recognize it as an answer to a prayer!
  • One last final thought about asking & prayer:  Express gratitude in every prayer, no matter what form your prayer takes.  Be continuously grateful, even if it seems that you are not being heard or that your prayer requests are not being answered.  Gratitude has a similar effect as the Begging & Pleading Prayer in that it removes obstacles to our receiving.  Prayers of gratitude & thanksgiving belong in a class all to themselves, so make sure to make time for this.

What has worked best for you?  What are your thoughts on prayer?  In what other ways have you prayed that I have not listed here?  Leave a comment telling us.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

The Breeze At Dawn

THE BREEZE AT DAWN

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.

Don’t go back to sleep.

You must ask for what you really want.

Don’t go back to sleep.

People are going back & forth across the door sill where the two worlds touch.

The door is round & open.

Don’t go back to sleep.

…by Rumi
“The Essential Rumi”

Translation by Coleman Barks

The Breeze at Dawn is a Rumi poem. Rumi (Sept. 30, 1207-Dec. 17, 1273), as he is popularly called, was a 13th century Persian Muslim poet, jurist, theologian & Sufi mystic.  There is a good deal of information about him on Wikipedia.  His followers founded the Mawlawi Sufi Order after his death in 1273.  Every major religion has a mystical form it seems.  In Islam it’s Sufism, in Judaism it’s Kabbalah & in Christianity it’s Gnosticism.  These are just the ones I know.  I’m sure there are many others.

I consider this poem to be one of my theme songs, so to speak.  It was first brought to my attention by one of my mentors (I highly recommend having at least one mentor but that will be a post for another day) & it seems that every time it is brought to my attention again, it fits me & my life perfectly.  When I decided to begin this blog, yet again came the reminder.  So, of course, I had to plaster it on the front page.  I can’t possibly explain in one small post all of the reasons why it fits & belongs on the front page but I will attempt a few just to introduce myself & this blog.

First off is the obvious in that it has my name in it!  Despite my moniker & that I was born at dawn (hence the name), I am not a morning person & I have a lot of trouble waking up in the morning.  Often falling back asleep, when I intend to wake up. “Don’t go back to sleep” is a reminder to remain conscious & to remember who I really am – a spiritual being having a physical experience – something that many of us have forgotten & that causes us to live our lives half asleep.  Life can seem so much easier & simpler to sleepwalk through it.  Spirit has worked hard to wake me up in this lifetime & keep me awake!

Asking for what I want is something I am still learning to do.  This requires that I be aware enough of myself that I know what I need.  After waking up enough to realize what I need, I still have to take it a step further & ask.  I don’t mean ask others which could also be another meaning of this line but ask Spirit.   This reminds me of the bible verse on my “Wisdom” page Matthew 7:7-8 NIV “So I say to you:  Ask & it will be given to you; seek & you will find; knock & the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds & to the one who knocks the door will be opened.” My absolute, all time favorite bible verse since I was young that never fails to bring tears to my eyes & to give me goosebumps when I read it.  By the way, I’ve learned that anything that causes goosebumps or brings tears to the eyes is significant to me in someway.  Just one way that Spirit communicates.

“People are going back & forth across the door sill where the two worlds touch.” This for me refers to the waking & the dream state, the physical world & the spiritual world, being born & passing away among other possibilities. These two worlds only seem disconnected from each other but aren’t as “the door is round & open,” implying that you can easily cross “back & forth” from one to the other.  My earliest memory of crossing the door sill was when I was 2 years old.  I was reaching for a red ball in the corner next to the stove when a pot of hot coffee was accidentally knocked over on top of me.  I went into shock from suffering 2nd & 3rd degree burns.  I have no memory after the red ball until the hospital where I remember watching from the corner of the curtained off emergency room as the hospital staff worked on me.  I was not afraid & just stayed there & watched.  The next memory is of  waking up back in my body in the hospital crib with something uncomfortable wrapped around my middle, probably a blanket.  This was my first out-of-body-experience (OOBE) that I can remember & possibly my first spiritual experience in general, also.

“The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you” would be me.  I have kept my spiritual life a complete secret from others for most of my life.  “Coming out of the closet” so to speak, is something I never intended to do & yet here I am telling secrets!  I can’t keep quiet any longer.  The pressure from Spirit to speak can no longer be denied.  For anyone who understands metaphysics, the study of things beyond the physical, my not speaking all this time explains in part my developing thyroid problems.  It’s time to speak.  I hope Spirit & God are happy, now.  🙂

And with that, this blog has officially begun.

Happy New Year!

Love, Dawn
